I could share pages of untold stories of the number of people that have touched my life and hopefully, their lives were touched as well. There are countless numbers of plateaus and valleys that come with any business, activity, or ministry that weathers the test of time. The disappointments and heartbreaks are numerous. But, God's word says count it joyous when you go through these trials and tribulations because it produces patience, perseverance, love and peace. The fruit of the spirit can grow ONLY in the garden of obedience. Martial arts is all about bringing out the best in ones mind, body and spirit. This will be accomplished if you never give up. We offer a variety of classes for 5 years to adult. Please give us a call to set up your fi rst week free to see if our martial arts program is for you before making this life-changing experience. On Thursday they competed virtually in the North Carolina A s s o c i a t i o n for Scholastic Activities "The Twelve" competition and took fi rst place, fi nishing ahead of perennial top competitors such as the Early College at Guilford (currently the 10th best high school in the nation, according to USA Today) and Myers Park High School of Charlotte. During "The Twelve", 12 students participate in 12 rounds covering 12 academic topics. The students who competed for Thomas Jefferson were Noah Champion, Dominik Mystkowski, Camden Sloan, Jack Parker, Jennie Conner, Maylan Maxwell, Katrina Shauf, Dominic McCraw, Cooper Xie, Sydney Evans, Ava Bridges, and Lawson Taylor. On Saturday and Sunday, two teams from Thomas Jefferson competed virtually in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments' Small School Nationals in the open division. The "A" team had a tremendous performance and fi nished tied for seventh in the nation! Team members, all juniors, were Dominic Mystkowski, Camden Sloan, Aidan O'Reilly, and Jack Parker. St. Mark's of Texas fi nished fi rst. The "B" Team had a strong showing for a team of all freshmen and sophomores at their fi rst national high school competition. Team members were Maylan Maxwell, Katrina Shauf, Sydney Evans, and Hunter Plaster. Coach Kimberly Lloyd credits the team's successes to their ability to work well together and to the diversity of talent this year which allowed them to answer questions on a wide variety of academic and cultural topics.
