When we begin to take a look at the demands of life, we are often overwhelmed by the weight of each task. We might even ask ourselves, "How am I ever going to get through this?" The Bible gives us an answer to this dilemma. In Psalm 90:12, God tells us that we should number our days so that we can apply our hearts unto wisdom. He is exhorting us to live day by day. When tragedy or a setback occurs in our life, the sorrow and pain can be overpowering. It is then, we need to make the wise choice to take each day as it comes. The Lord will give us strength to face each new day. Many times, we begin to fret and worry about tomorrow, next week, or next month and we forfeit today's peace. A person who does not know the Lord or refuses to have a spiritual relationship with God will often turn to medication or substance abuse to help them get through the day. This only numbs the emotional pain, but does not remove it. In the Christian hymn entitled, "Day by Day." The writer testifi es: "Day by day and with each passing moment, Strength I fi nd to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment, I've no cause for worry or for fear." Simply put, life is designed to be lived day by day.
