A fter a unique fall semester experience, members of Lambda returned to campus this spring ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that awaited them. Among those eager for the new semester were members of Chapter leadership. Upon arriving in January, the entire Executive Board, along with select Cardinal Cabinet Directors, attended a three-day virtual Firesides Leadership Training. At this training, leaders attended informative individual and group sessions. Following the 2021 Firesides Leadership Training, Lambda began the Continuous Open Recruitment process. Active members met with several potential new members via Zoom and in person to become acquainted and share with them the wonderful experience that comes with membership in Chi Omega. After less than three weeks of recruiting, we were thrilled to welcome 10 incredible new members! Recruitment Chairwoman Kate Solem '20 did an excellent job leading the Chapter through this new process. Since accepting their bids, our New Member Pledge Class has been warmly welcomed by New Member Educator Jackie Bryson '20 and her sisterhood support team and assistants. The team was able to safely host an in-person bid day and new member retreat. After completing the New Member Experience in April, the Spring New Member Class will be initiated. 3 CHI OMEGA The Spring 2021 Bid Day theme was "Happiest as a Hootie." Committed to Keeping Our Communities Safe With the coming of spring comes hopefulness within the Chapter of a future return to normalcy. As greater numbers of individuals within the chapter, KU, and Lawrence communities are being vaccinated, we are constantly evaluating the changing COVID-19 guidelines and policies provided by Douglas County to best determine the ways by which we might give members a fuller experience. After conducting evaluations for this spring semester, Lambda leadership decided to host a Mom's/Ladies' Weekend as well as a Dad's Weekend in the months of March and April. The events during these weekends were conducted in accordance with CDC and county guidelines. Lambda will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our members and their loved ones. Celebrating Sisters' Hard Work In these final months of the academic year, we are celebrating the contributions and accomplishments of Chapter members, especially our seniors. This last semester, the Lambda Chapter earned a GPA of 3.67—an impressive feat considering the difficult circumstances during these times. This GPA puts Lambda Top of the Hill in grades! Our vice president and head of scholarship, Catherine Dehaemers '19, is planning an end-of-year academic and scholarship award ceremony to recognize outstanding individuals in the Chapter. At this ceremony, and during our special Senior Appreciation Week, we hope to convey our sincere gratitude, love, and appreciation to our amazing senior class. They, like each of you, have contributed to the betterment of Lambda Chapter. I feel extremely fortunate to have this opportunity to share these updates with you all. Thank you for continuing to engage with and support Lambda. Loyally, Leah Stein '19, Chapter President kuchio.president@gmail.com
