By Randy Rice West Washington County Directory A little bit of nostalgia is right on Rt. 62 in Lincoln. at's where you'll find the famed American Drive-In, a throw-back to the fiies, literally! In business since 1958, the hamburger fast food establishment still delights customers with its kitschy décor and traditional drive-in fare. Lifetime local Lincoln resident Katrina Asher took over ownership of the iconic drive-in in March of 2016. Having grown up in Lincoln, she was the perfect person to continue stewardship of this local gem. In addition to owning the American Drive- In, Katrina is a very active participant in some Lincoln's most prestigious organizations. She is president of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, vice president of the Lincoln Booster Club and board member on Lincoln Bright Futures. "I enjoyed coming here as a child," Katrina recalled. "And it is an absolute honor to keep the American Drive-In tradition going. I love seeing returning customers come in with a smile, talking about it being the same as it was when they were kids." And if you take a look at some of those customer comments and you will begin to understand the appeal of this Northwest Arkasas landmark: "Stopped in for some burgers, fries, and shakes. Was not disappointed. Burgers and fries made fresh and had a real good comfort food feel. e same staff was very nice and pleasant and took great care of us. ey were even great with my kids helping them decide what they wanted on their burgers." "I got a hot fudge sundae and it came in larger cup and hot fudge and peanuts on it were so good! Was nice size serving. Mom got pineapple malt and Dad got chocolate malt. ey said they were very good. Saw somebody get hamburger plate and hamburger was huge. Going back soon to get one." "Stopping on a whim, we ordered burgers, fries, and a Cherry Coke. Boy, let me tell you, this is the real deal for a burger. Unlike Sonic that charges for cheese on a cheeseburger with no cheese which we all know is a hamburger, at the American you actually order a hamburger and they still know what that is. Great day in the morning!" If you are traveling down Rt. 62 and passing through Lincoln, be sure to stop in and see for yourself why the American Drive-In is still going strong.
