Cut out the letters O and
W from the headlines.
Then cut out the
letters, H, N, B, and R.
Show your child how you
can spell the words how,
now, brown, cow using
the letters O and W.
With your child, look
through the newspaper to
find pictures of things
that start with the same
sound as the letter C in
cow.
Point to the number
4 in the newspaper.
Have your child say the
number and, if it's large
enough, have your child
trace the number.
Wad up a newspaper page
and wrap it with tape to
make a ball. Tell your child
to listen to you say a list
of words. When you say a
word that starts with the
letter C your child should
throw the ball into the air
and try to catch it!

newspaper search for an
upper case letter C and a
lower case letter c. Draw
a line to connect the two.
Can you find more
upper case and lower case
C-c pairs?

With your child, find
and circle the color red
in today's newspaper.
Then count
the number of times
you found the color red.
Repeat with other
colors.

newspaper for pictures
of animals. (Remember,
people are animals too!)
Together, imitate the
sounds the animals make.
If it is a picture of a
person, make up
something for the
person to say.

Look at the shapes of the clouds. Look at the spots on the
cow. Draw a line from each cloud shape to the spot on the
cow that it matches.
