3 AUBURN UNIVERSITY D espite the ongoing pandemic, Gamma Sigma Chapter has thrived. We had a full initiation for our fall pledge class of 42 members, being sure to follow Auburn University's guidelines to keep ourselves and our alumni safe. Auburn held a virtual spring recruitment, where we still managed to recruit 11 excellent pledges. Our chapter has reached a huge milestone, topping 100 brothers. at makes us the fastest growing fraternity in the past 100 years at Auburn. As our numbers grow, rest assured we are working diligently to only recruit men who truly exemplify the Jordan Standard. We have not been able to hold social events this semester, and a majority of Auburn's classes are still online. However, we are continually working to raise money for our community. We held a three-on-three basketball tournament with our neighbors at Sigma Nu where one of our teams won the championship, raising over $2,000 for the local Boys and Girls Club. Gamma Sigma is also joining other fraternities at Auburn to raise money and donate meals to EAMC workers and first responders. Gamma Sigma will be holding a very different Derby Days this year. Without the social side of things, we will have to rely on donations and virtual events to meet our $10,000 goal. We are also putting together a Derby Days blood drive to benefit the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Sigma Chi's goal is to raise $20 million over the next several years directed to women's cancers, to honor the women that inspire us every day and who work tirelessly with us in Debry Days to fight this horrible disease. e Derby Days page on sigmachiauburn.com will stay updated with the most recent information. Brian Snyder, Troy '85, our chapter advisor, recently established an alumni advisory board composed of local alumni. Some notable members are Buddy Metcalf '69 (61st Sigma Chi Grand Consul) and Adam Joiner, Tarleton State '15, Arkansas State '18 (Auburn Interfraternity Council coordinator).
