alpha chi omega | page 8 W armest greetings from all of the amazing women at Alpha Nu! I am ecstatic to share all that we have accomplished this semester! Here at the University of Missouri, our sisters are involved in a wide range of activities, work and student life. Some of our sisters work part time to help with costs or to grow in their professional abilities. Many participate in volunteer opportunities that foster relationships with other community members and students, such as tutoring and blood drives. All of us have joined Mizzou organizations such as professional/ service fraternities, student boards, steering committees, ROTC, student ministries, Mizzou Tour Team, Mizzou Alternative Breaks, Golden Girls and many more! We could not be prouder of our sisters and the dedication they display in all that they do. We are especially proud of Samantha Cox '17 for her involvement on the 2021 RAMS Steering Committee and Courtney Kutter '17 for her work on the public relations committee of 2020 Homecoming Steering Committee. Academic Achievement We had an outstanding fall 2020 semester, with Alpha Nu achieving a chapter GPA of 3.562, an incredible 169 members on the Dean's List and 42 members who earned a 4.0. Alpha Chi ranked sixth out of 15 chapters academically. All of this is evidence of our support of one of Alpha Chi's most fundamental values: academic excellence. Diversity and Inclusion Efforts In February, along with celebrating MacDowell Month, Alpha Nu celebrated Black History Month with different activities and educational efforts in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion. Examples included profiles of significant Black women in the morning announcements, collecting feminine hygiene products to be donated to True North and another shelter to help women in need and hosting a virtual movie marathon focusing on these topics. Most significantly, we added a vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion to our executive board in accordance with Alpha Chi policy. There are now 15 members on the chapter's executive board. We are proud of our work so far in advocating for diversity and inclusion within Alpha Nu and are working hard to refine and continue these efforts! Philanthropic Events Despite the ongoing pandemic, Alpha Nu has continued to promote domestic violence awareness through various philanthropic service and activities. In February, Alpha Nu raised $1,900 for True North of Columbia though a tabling event with Kappa Alpha Order and a chapter karaoke event. Despite the challenges, we raised $18,000 in 2020 through the support of our alumnae, chapter members, community and campus members, as well as the hard work from our philanthropy chair and her committee. Homecoming, Greek Week and Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis Alpha Nu participated in Mizzou's 109th Homecoming with the men of Pi Kappa Phi and Delta Kappa Epsilon, continuing our contribution to one of Mizzou's greatest traditions. Alpha Nu placed second in RAMS 2021 (Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis); we placed first the previous three years. We are looking forward to Greek Week 2021 with the men of Sigma Phi Delta and Pi Kappa Phi. This year's Greek Week theme is "Reality TV," showcasing popular reality TV shows. Our theme will be from the show Top Chef. We are so excited for the remainder of this term and the year to come, and we cannot wait to share all of our future accomplishments! On behalf of Alpha Nu, thank you for your continued love and support, especially during this difficult time.
