GOLDEN AGE FOR ALPHA MU
I
am very hopeful that the 2021-22 school
year at Iowa State will be back to normal.
It appears that everyone who desires to be
vaccinated will have that opportunity by May
1. It would be great to have in-person classes
resume. The fall football schedule may return to
normal as well.
Belonging to a fraternity creates a bond not
found in dormitory or apartment living. A
group of about two dozen brothers and their
spouses are planning a reunion in Idaho in July.
I have never been contacted for a reunion of
Griffith House in Storms Hall where I lived
for one quarter and doubt I ever will be. The
list of brothers attending includes many who
lived in the house while I attended ISU from
1969 to 1973. Brother Howie Kuhns '70 is the
person to contact for anyone who is interested
in attending: howardkuhns@gmail.com
On a sad note, I was informed of the death of
Denny Winterboer '71 in March. Denny was a
great brother and always up for a good time. His
laugh was infectious. For those who lived in the
old house, Denny was a regular on the sun deck
above the cold-air dorms. He will be missed by
his family and all those who knew him.
On a brighter note, I was recently informed
that the final mortgage payment will be paid
and our house will once again be debt-free.
Thank you to all the brothers who made this
payoff possible. Thank you also to all brothers
who contribute regularly to the scholarship
fund. Your donations help the Board of
Directors provide financial assistance to many
undergraduates.
Fraternally,
