It became apparent from the stories they shared why they chose to give back to the Eta Chapter of Sigma Chi in Adam's memory, and I was touched listening to how highly they thought of Adam. e following story is a celebration of his life and the lifelong bonds that kept Adam and his brothers so close throughout the years. W hen Adam S. Trowbridge III arrived at the University of Mississippi in his mother's Cadillac Fleetwood from the early 1980s his freshman year, he felt embarrassed driving such a big car. Adam had an Oldsmobile Cutlass, but unfortunately it was too small to fit all of his musical equipment. When he made it to campus, eight fraternity brothers from Sigma Chi helped Adam unpack his car, and then they all went straight to dinner aerward. From that moment on, Adam's love for the Cadillac started to grow. "Conveniently, he never brought it back to us," Tad Trowbridge, Adam's father, said. "He was always known for driving around in that car with his legs crossed one over the other." Adam's time with Eta Chapter saw some of the best years of his life, as he forged lifelong bonds with his brothers over the span of just a few years. He became well known among his Sigma Chi brothers for his laughter and unique musical talent. "When you met Adam, it felt like you had known him your whole life," Dan Jordan '87 said. "He had two moods: happy or asleep. at's what his mom, Joyce, told us (Joyce credits one of Adam's childhood friends, Ian Webb, for saying this). He could sleep anywhere at any time, and once slept through an entire 15-hour road trip." John Weathersby '86, Adam's fraternity big brother, affirmed this statement, saying: "Adam was the kind of person to wake up at happy hour." (Continued on page 4)
