Lyre Letter Alpha Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at Purdue University SPRING 2021 I am so happy to share that although this semester has been hectic and crazy with COVID-19, the Alpha Beta Chapter was still able to find success. Even through all the changes, new rules and other unexpected events, we still managed to have fun and strengthen the bond of our sisterhood together! Starting with recruitment, the chapter warmly welcomed 43 new members into our lovely home. We cannot thank our amazing recruitment team enough for all of the hard work and endless hours that they put into recruitment this year, especially since this was the very first year we had to do it all virtually. Those women dedicated endless amounts of their time to recruit one of the best groups of new members that I have been able to meet. It makes me even prouder to be a member of Alpha Beta Chapter. We also tried our hardest to make contributions to Domestic Violence Awareness (DVA) despite the global pandemic. We were able to raise $150 during an online trivia game night where teams battled it out for a secret surprise. Although we weren't able to raise a lot of money, we did stay in contact with the women of the shelter and wrote letters to lift their spirits. During late November, we welcomed our new executive board composed of 14 chapter officers. Thank you to all of our 2020 officers for their hard work and perseverance during this difficult time. This wasn't the year they signed up for, but they took it in stride and turned it into a positive and fun experience for all of our members. As I write this, we are currently halfway through our spring semester and everything has been going amazingly! Our members participated in Healthy Relationships Week, using a big social media push raise money and awareness. From the bingo boards that we promoted on our stories for Healthy Relationships Week, we were able to raise $2,000 for DVA. I am so proud of our vice president of philanthropy for still being able to raise money for our philanthropy through these difficult times; I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. During MacDowell Month, we unfortunately couldn't host the Purdue Glee Club, so instead the women of Alpha Chi Omega decided to turn to their own love of music and musical talents. We all either submitted songs/artists that we liked and why, a video of us playing an instrument, or my personal favorite, videos of girls just having fun with one another and singing. I cannot wait to see how the remainder of this semester goes. Each day my love and admiration for the women at Alpha Beta Chapter strengthens and grows.
