A s Sherry Lober Tottleben '88 befriended the women of Alpha Delta when she was going through formal recruitment, she admired how they took academics and philanthropy seriously, all while being fun- loving, sincere, and down-to-earth. The well- rounded variety of women helped Gamma Phi feel like a home away from home to Sherry, and she wants to ensure that future generations of women at Mizzou have that same feeling at Alpha Delta. Sherry has done her part to build upon Gamma Phi's great legacy at Mizzou by contributing to Alpha Delta's capital campaign. "While sisterhood and all the many social events of the college days were fun, I think it is important to always remember to give back to the community when you can. As sorority members, women are dedicated to multiple philanthropies and service projects to support many different causes," Sherry said. "This is one aspect of being in a sorority that I would like to continue, and I felt that this was my time to give back to Gamma Phi. I wanted the present-day members to have an updated house to be proud of and remain competitive with recruitment of new members." Sherry enjoyed fostering friendships with her Alpha Delta sisters during Greek Week, Homecoming, and spending time with them in the chapter house. She had the opportunity to live in the old annex during her senior year, which had her sharing two bedrooms between four other roommates. While the quarters were tight, there was still room for many wonderful memories to be made. Sherry is excited that the collegians have even more space to bond with one another thanks to the chapter house renovation. "It was rewarding to contribute to the building fund and a good way to become active and reunite with both old and new alumnae," Sherry said. "As a collegian, I learned to see people for the special talents and gifts that make each woman special. I loved how every sister was so different, yet we came together and appreciated each other and built strong bonds." Ever since graduating from Mizzou, Sherry has lived out Gamma Phi's mission of being a confident woman of character who celebrates sisterhood and makes a difference in the world around us. Sherry's career began at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. While employed at Glennon, she earned her master's degree in nursing from St. Louis University. After getting married, she and her husband, Jeff, moved to Chicago for several years, where Sherry worked as the head nurse for a pediatrician in private practice. Sherry and Jeff returned to St. Louis to raise their three children and have been settled in for several years now. Along with spending time with family and friends, Sherry enjoys traveling and shopping and plans to play more golf and pickleball this summer. You can connect with Sherry at tottlebens@yahoo.com.
