Gilchrist Jr. '54 initiated a high school band program in Vernon, Ala., in 1963 and taught high school English in Hackleburg, Ala., for 28 years. He lives in Hamilton, Ala. Andrew Witcher '98 was named as one of Florida's Best and Brightest in 2018-19 by the Florida Dept. of Education/Science. He coaches a USS swim club for USA Swimming in North Miami, Fla., and FGC and Brazilian champion 15- to 16-year-old boys 100/200 breaststroke who were trying to qualify for Olympic trials in 2020. Davis had a great experience and says if any Chapter members are interested in pursuing a consultant role with Headquarters, he would be happy to talk with them. He started VCOM following graduate school at Delta State University, where he completed an M.S. in sport and human performance. He and his wife, Hannah, welcomed their first child, William Miller, on November 2. They reside in Enterprise, Ala. Email: wtremlett@vcom.edu Ryden C. Smith '17 is pursuing a graduate degree in mechanical engineering at Mississippi State University. During the pandemic, he has helped design and build boxes that help disinfect PPE for the student health center, VA retirement home, and several others. "It has been a great experience helping our frontline workers stay safe," Ryden said. He lives in Northport, Ala.
