A majestic mist shrouds the surrounding peaks, valleys, and rivers, protecting the agave that grows here throughout the harvest. This distinctive terroir has inspired Del Maguey to craft mezcals with the sort of nuance that consumers typically identify with wine; its 100% Espadín Santo Domingo Albarradas, for example, is part of its single-village collection. The rock soil on which the agave is planted shows in the minerality and floral-brush undertones of the spirit, whose subtleties make it a prime candidate for twists on classic gin cocktails as well as for sipping neat. In short, the Del Maguey Santo Domingo defies sweeping generalizations about the category, revealing that for all its wisps of smoke, single-village mezcal very clearly mirrors the place it came from.
