It earned immediate acclaim after its founding in 2012 with the release of its flagship product, distilled from locally sourced grapes (predominantly Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc). Since then, says founder Ian MacNeil, "We've rolled out three all- natural infused flavors: honey, Kona coffee, and cinnamon, and each one has been successful and award-winning in its own right. We've won over 53 awards in the last eight years." MacNeil's mission is not only to make fantastic vodka but to draw attention to the beautiful Pacific Northwest and all that it has to offer. "My mindset is to be able to [support] the things in Washington that I love and that I'm proud of," he explains, adding, "The state's wine industry and grape growers are among the finest in the world, and our products celebrate them." Glass Vodka's sophisticated packaging, complete with crystal stopper, also alludes to the region's unique heritage. "We are at the epicenter of glassblowing and studio-glass artists," says MacNeil. "The name of the company itself is a nod to my friends who are in that world." Ever-ready to parlay his success into new products, MacNeil recently launched Glass Vodka Soda, a true competitor in the emerging hard-seltzer category. Combining vodka and real fruit essences, it comes in four expressions: Ruby Red Grapefruit, Mandarin Orange, Meyer Lemon, and an unflavored, unsweetened variant. "It's here to stay; it's not just a fad," MacNeil asserts. "The difference is that most of those ready-to-drink products are malt beverage–based, and I decided to attack it differently."
