"What makes Humboldt County so special is that it showcases California in its natural state, which is something we try to do with our products," says Marketing Manager Ren Brownell. Located in Fortuna, the distillery steeps its spirits in their terroir—starting with the pristine water it sources from the Six Rivers Watershed, where centuries-old redwood forests dot the landscape and wildlife is unencumbered by the reach of urban development. The brand's signature offering is its Humboldt Vodka, distilled from sugarcane without any glycerins, sweeteners, or additives. It's USDA Certified Organic as well as non-GMO and gluten-free, which Brownell suggests is part of the company's DNA. "Being organic is the biggest way we can have an impact on our environment," she says. Humboldt's Finest, meanwhile, is a hemp-infused vodka that nods to Humboldt's agricultural reputation while showing notable herbal character. In addition to its flagship vodkas, Stevens also makes two rums—Spiced and Original Rum—along with occasional, limited-edition whiskies and brandies.
