Our Action Plan to Ensure the
Next Chapter of Kansas Beta
Phase 1
Ensure Kansas Beta has enough funds to operate through COVID. Assuming our expected 52 live-in men do so this fall, the AVC has enough
cash to sustain us through the end of the 2020-21 school year.
Phase 2
Ensure the facility is set to impress prospects, parents, and alumni. Jerry Dixon '91, building operations chairman and a licensed Class A
contractor, has been deeply involved in the maintenance of the house for the past two years. Brother Dixon prepared the following five-year
plan, highlighting priority projects:
• (Priority) Complete bathroom renovations – $130,000
• (Priority) Replace windows for safety and better insulation – $160,000
• (Priority) Replace doors and hardware throughout building – $50,000
• (Priority) Fund major maintenance budget for three years – $90,000
• (Priority) Seal parking lots – $10,000
• Complete major kitchen remodel – $150,000
• Purchase stationary furniture for bedrooms – $70,000
• Epoxy resident room floors – $60,000
• Complete heavy remodel of Zappa Deli (convert to study or gym) – $50,000
• Update interior/exterior lighting to reduce usage – $40,000
• Replace carpet and other flooring – $40,000
• Complete landscape improvements – $25,000
• Remodel formal living room and foyer – $25,000
• Remodel Chapter room – $20,000
• Remodel guest bathroom – $5,000
• Remodel dining hall – $15,000
• Remodel library – $25,000
• Save for new roof, needed in 12-15 years – $40,000
• Set aside funds for property insurance deductible – $20,000
These urgent projects require roughly $440,000, while the total future enhancement plan is approximately $1,000,000. This plan will set the
Chapter up for success for another 20 years and enable our recruitment team to show the house with pride.
Phase 3
Long-term financial stability is key.
Our finance committee will work on a plan that will make giving easier with smaller monthly payments that ensure Kansas Beta has a strong
financial foundation. SigEp chapters and other Greek organizations across the U.S. have had great success with organized plans of alumni
financial support and gifting. Their campus presence and top-tier facilities are a testament to their alumni involvement.
