Haymount Folks in Fayetteville may quibble over the spelling or even its boundaries, but Haymount or Hamont, there’s no denying that this is one of the most sought- after sections of town. Much of the city’s political power has historically had its roots here, in the neighborhoods on and around Hay Street, Fort Bragg Road and sections of Morganton and Raeford roads. Its heart is the cluster of shops near the intersection of Hay and Oakridge Avenue. Locals know this as the place to catch a play or the best cup of frozen yogurt (inside the Exxon station). Need to know: Best place to grab a coffee: Griffin’s 1225 Fort Bragg Road Closest grocery store: Harris Teeter 2800 Raeford Road Unwind after work: Highlander Pub 1217 Hay St. All Bars and Restaurants in North Carolina are Smoke-Free. Please Call 1-800-662-7030 or visit www.smokefree.nc.gov to report a violation. 50 | Accents • 2010 - 2011
