PORTFOLIO Accents Fayetteville always has an eye on its next fix. For a town that rises well before dawn, it’s no surprise that coffee is king. The city has a slew of coffee shops but one true caffeine mecca is the Coffee Scene on Morganton Road. This family business made Westwood Shopping Center its home for many years until owner Kiki Manis opened a new freestanding, two-story shop in 2009. She and her family added the yummy dessert known as gelato, made fresh daily, and kept Coffee Scene traditions such as live music and poetry nights. And coffee, of course. It’s what ties a diverse clientele together: soldiers, stay-at- home moms, students and professionals, they all find a home at the cozy Coffee Scene. Manis says a good cup of coffee will do that. “It’s just part of who you are when you understand the passion of drinking it. When you have all of these very unique people coming into the shop, they’re all sharing that same experience.” - Allison Williams Thousands of homes. . . .one address. www.townsendrealestate.com 14 | Accents • 2010 - 2011 910-323-1110
