In August, we transitioned to a fully virtual recruitment, which was a first. While it looked vastly different than years past, we welcomed home 54 new members with huge smiles (under our masks, of course!). Our Bid Day theme was Color Me Chi O. With the spring 2020 semester wrapping up fully virtual, the women of Tau Beta managed to earn an overall GPA of 3.86. Oklahoma State University did not rank chapters on GPA due to the option for a pass/fail grading system. Nonetheless, our grade standing continues to be impressive. Maintaining a Strong Membership Nationally, Chi Omega's new member educational program changed to a seven-week program. On October 5, Tau Beta successfully initiated its 54 new members. Our new member pledge class became educated on the rich traditions of our sisterhood and the values we share. Big/Little Night occurred on September 17, where Member Class 2020 received their Big Sister on OSU's Library Lawn. Keeping Sisters Connected to Chi O While the fall semester has brought new ways of doing everything virtually, the Tau Beta women are finding fun and creative avenues to connect with sisters. We have transitioned to having small groups, called Hootie Huddles, which meet every Monday for virtual chapter and miniature sisterhood events. The heart behind this is to get girls connected with one another and to build on our foundations of friendship. We kicked off the first Hootie Huddle this October with a surprise pumpkin painting party for members. We hosted our annual Wish Week for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the end of October. While the weeklong events looked slightly different to align with social distancing measures, we were thrilled to continue to support Make-A-Wish during this time. Greek SHOWdown Awards Chi Omega participated in the new community show called Greek SHOWdown, which was in place of Freshman Follies this year. Tau Beta entered acts in choreography and vocals, earning a third place finish in each category. The show was recorded and aired on the first weekend of November. Leaders on Campus Tau Beta members continue to excel throughout our campus in various ways. We are excited to have one of our own Tau Beta sisters, Jaden Kasitz '17, serve as the Student Government Association president. Clarissa Ratzlaff '17 and Rachel Dockrey '17 served on OSU's Homecoming executive team this year. Unfortunately, America's Greatest Homecoming was canceled due to the pandemic. Chi Omega was looking forward to working with the men of Beta Theta Pi for our pairing this year, but we are looking forward to future years to celebrate our beloved Homecoming. Thankful for Alumnae Support While we are deeply saddened that we couldn't celebrate our centennial with alumnae, we are thrilled to celebrate via virtual formats created through the talents of active members and alumnae alike. Your sisters worked hard in creating celebratory videos to recognize the many successes of Tau Beta throughout the 100 years. We look forward to seeing what the next 100 years on OSU's campus holds for Tau Beta. We wish our Tau Beta sisters both near and far the best. We are thankful for all of the support we have received during these trying times. We anticipate the time when we can meet in person again and carry on the traditions of our beloved sisterhood. Loyally, Addie Chapman '17 Chapter President (405) 509-3837 addison.chapman@okstate.edu Tau Beta Undergraduates Excel at OSU Grace Meinders '17, Millie Bryant '18, and Katy Schwarz '19 celebrate the addition of Sammie Smith '20 into their Chi Omega family on Oklahoma State's Library Lawn. * In a recent campaign mailing there were campaign donors missing from our list of loyal contributors. We sincerely apologize for the error. Please contact our Campaign Coordinator, Ginny Brown, at gbrown@penningtonco.com or (785) 856-9583 if you have questions. We look forward to making sure all Tau Beta donors lists are correct moving forward.
