Learn about integrated health using the Holistic Self Model, that we all have four aspects of self that are interconnected-the mental, emotional, physical & spiritual planes. In this course, participants will be guided through a 20 minute hormone balanc- ing exercise, specifi cally- teaching women meditation through Metta, which is a lov- ing kindness technique. The course is a combination of coaching, meditation and emotional clearing techniques, learning how to listen to our feminine intuition. Other discussion topics/handouts include using Meditation for problems such as, anxiety, hormonal imbalance, menopause, PMS, infertility & other challenges. We will touch on what is happening with polar bears and how climate change is affecting their life and the loss of their habitat by the melt- ing of the Arctic ice. From being cat- egorized as "Threatened" to "Rare" to "Endangered" this class will discuss the possibility of their existence. How will they fare? Will they adapt back from where they came as brown bears? Dur- ing the second hour of this class we will learn about the black bears of Arkansas and how they have gone from sparse populations to a healthy populous. Or your Gorgonzola from your Roquefort? Whether you are a beginner cheesemaker or just a hungry cheese enthusiast, this class is the perfect foundation to expand your knowledge behind the art and science of cheese. Jes- sica Keahey, the Big Cheese behind Sweet Freedom Cheese and a Certifi ed Cheese Professional, will discuss the fundamental ingredients used in all cheeses, basic milk composition chemistry and characteristics (and its importance in cheesemaking), and how to select quality milk for cheesemak- ing at home. Participants will learn about the diff erences that separate cheese vari- eties, as you taste your way through soft- ripened, bloomy rind, washed rind, hard pressed, and blue cheese. You'll leave con- fi dent in how to identify, select, store, cut, and serve fi ne cheese! As this is a tasting class, please let us know if you or anyone in your party have any food allergies. Cheese tasting kits can be coordinated and picked up in Bentonville or Fayetteville. HOW GLOBAL CHALLENGES SHAPE OUR LIVES. DESCRIPTION: This course examines the social, political, economic, and en- vironmental trends that are shaping our world, and the effects that these extraordinary circumstances are having on our daily lives. The world is undergo- ing a unique phase of profound struc- tural and demographic transformations. From powerful and influential techno- logical revolution, to the largest growth in human population that the world has ever seen, we are before some of the greatest transformative challenges ever faced in human history. How are we coping with this reality? How will the world look ten, or twenty years from now? What kind of challeng- es do experts anticipate for the foresee- able future? What are we doing now to tackle some of these challenges? What can we do in the near future to take ac- tion and help address these problems? What are we doing today to prevent worst case scenarios? What kind of tech- nologies exist to help us deal with some of these issues? What is the role of gov- ernments, civil society or the free en- terprises to confront these monumen- tal tasks? And what kind of concrete actions can we take as citizens of this world to do our part? These and other questions are explored in the course. The course does not pretend or provide concrete answers, instead, the course aims to provide alternatives.
