Delta Delta Delta - Kansas State University

T he start of the fall semester was a new one for everyone. Many classes turned to virtual learning while others were held in person with safe social distancing, masks, and constant cleanings in between class periods. Theta Iota reopened the Chapter House this fall with 52 live-in members; other sisters stayed home but have joined us for chapter meetings and other events over Zoom. Despite all the changes in our world due to the coronavirus, Theta Iota is still finding ways to spread kindness to her members and to our friends, families, and in our communities. FUN IN THE FALL With virtually everything moving online, formal recruitment followed suit early in the fall. VP of Membership Sidney Lawyer '17 and her assistant, McAuley Hollis '17, worked hard over the summer to ensure that our sisters would still have a fun and productive experience. New Member Educator Sophia Doss '18 put on a fantastic Bid Day themed "Honey, I'm Home" to celebrate the end of recruitment. We had a successful week and welcomed 46 new members into our sisterhood! Theta Iota held an in-person initiation on October 18 and 19, in two separate groups, all while practicing necessary safety measures. SUPPORTING ST. JUDE VP of Philanthropy Alison Murphy '18 found new ways to raise money for St. Jude this fall. She decided to hold Tri Delta's annual Drive Thru and also added a Delta Delivery Service this year, in which members delivered food to donors' houses. Her creativity allowed us to maintain safety procedures while raising funds for a great cause! Theta Iota is also participating in Sincerely Yours, in which members send letters out to their friends and family to raise money for St. Jude. SISTERHOOD BONDING To bring everyone together for some fun, we held a virtual makeup class with Ashley Rodden from Lover Cosmetics. She gave us a presentation on her five-step makeup routine, and all of our members followed along by applying their own makeup alongside the demonstration. SPRINGING FORWARD By the time this newsletter mails, Theta Iota officer elections for the spring semester will have begun. All Tri Delta chapters nationwide will adopt a new officer structure in January 2021. Change is coming, and we cannot wait to welcome the new leaders of Theta Iota who will lead our chapter on to great accomplishments!
