As society continues to weather the challenges of COVID-19, and racial and political unrest, it seems a little kindness—coupled with hope and resilience—could go a long way. It's why we've chosen kindness as a central theme this fall for supporting engaging and empowering Tri Deltas worldwide. Tri Delta Is LEADDDing Now Tri Delta is committed to creating an equitable and inclusive experience for our Black, Indigenous, and sisters of color. We have identified some, but not all, of the work to be done in our LEADDD Now Action Plan, available at www.tridelta.org/ leadddnow. One of the first steps Tri Delta has taken to address inequities across the enterprise is the election of five sisters of color to Tri Delta's boards. Executive Board Directors Emily Greer, Rhodes, and Tycely Williams, Wake Forest; Foundation Board Trustees Ashley Baskerville, Cal State/Long Beach, and Diane Petersen, Ohio Wesleyan; and Housing Board Director Caroline Chin, James Madison, have stepped up to lead Tri Delta and lend both their significant professional expertise and their lived experience in unprecedented times. Check out our website and podcast, "Let's Talk Tri Delta," for exclusive interviews with these stellar sisters. M arlene Lindell Cowan '59 has always been proud to be a Kansas native, Kansas State graduate, and Tri Delta member. "I treasure my years with Theta Iota and K-State," she said. "Kansans are seen as grounded with an appreciation of good values and standards." Thinking back to her first visit on campus, Marlene described a strong connection with K-State as she knew many who were alumni in her home town of Hutchinson. "My dad and uncle both graduated from KU so maybe I just wanted to be different!" Likewise, she was drawn to Theta Iota Chapter because of alumnae she had known in Hutchinson. During her time in Manhattan, Marlene participated in most Tri Delta activities, serving as an officer twice. "I remember working and riding on a Homecoming float, sitting in the basement rec room for casual meetings, and standing to sing enthusiastically, 'Ring Ching, Tri Delta' at dinner.
