$500,000 DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR CHALLENGE ANNOUNCED More Than $200,000 already CoMMiTTed O n September 19, 2015, Gamma Phi rededicated our storied chapter house at 800 Chautauqua. It was a momentous day, celebrating members living in the house again and the successful conclusion of our capital campaign. e Honoring Our Traditions, Providing for the Future campaign was designed to address the housing issues our undergraduate brothers were facing and provide a facility that would meet the needs of future generations of Beta brothers. e campaign raised more than $10.5 million from nearly 800 Beta brothers. It was a reminder of the pride, passion, and commitment our alumni have in our fraternity. As a result of the Honoring Our Traditions, Providing for the Future campaign, Gamma Phi once again has a physical structure that mirrors the quality of its membership. We now have an iconic building listed on the National Register of Historic Places with a state-of-the-art study/lecture room, an expanded dining room with a commercial-grade kitchen, and two- and four-man suites for the undergraduates—just a few of the improvements made to the house. It's hard to believe the rededication took place over five years ago, and that we are nearing the conclusion of the sixth fall semester of members living in the remodeled house. Over the last five years, the chapter has continued adding to Beta's legacy—a legacy each of us helped create. In the fall 2016 semester, the chapter reached a cumulative GPA of 3.3, marking the first time Gamma Phi crossed this threshold. e chapter has since carried a GPA greater than 3.3 in each of the last eight semesters. Additionally, the chapter recently signed a pledge class of 59 men despite going through recruitment in a virtual setting and other restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the Honoring Our Traditions, Providing for the Future campaign was a huge success, the house corporation still has nearly $1.8 million of debt. While the active members are the ones benefiting the most from these improvements, it has come down to a case of Securing Our Future Beta theta Pi at the University of oklahoma those who can afford it the least are paying the most. We must keep the Beta fraternity experience reasonably priced for today's college students. is is the impetus for the Securing Our Future campaign— to reduce the debt and secure the financial future of Gamma Phi. Since the early 1980s, we have had an annual alumni appeal called Beta Donors to support the chapter house. During the capital campaign, we suspended the annual Beta Donors program. e Securing Our Future campaign is the restart of our annual giving program. We are asking that you increase your giving to Gamma Phi for this year, and next year, for the purpose of debt reduction. An offer has been made by two of our most generous alumni to match $1 for $1 up to $500,000, which would result in retiring $1 million of our debt—more than 50% of the current loan balance. As of December 1, 2020, we have commitments totaling more than $200,000 toward the $500,000 challenge. With this amazing match opportunity, our alumni are being called upon to come together and help ensure the future of Gamma Phi. We only need $300,000 in additional donations, or pledges, to obtain the full value of this matching offer.
