W e were thrilled to initiate 37 new members on November 1. We had a crazy new member experience, with virtual meetings every Thursday and bonding activities so the new members could meet each other virtually. Luckily, our inspiration week was held in person on campus. It was full of trivia, bonding, and making memories! It has truly been a wild time navigating online school and an online new member program, but we are so happy to have all of these new members here with us! A s COVID-19 has impacted our daily lives, it also had a huge impact on formal recruitment this year. 2020 formal recruitment was done 100% virtually via Zoom. This presented many challenges as virtual recruitment was new to everyone across the country. Unfortunately, many aspects of traditional recruitment such as chants, snacks, and decorations could not happen virtually—but Sigma Kappa still had a successful recruitment. The potential new members met with their Gamma Chi over Zoom and were asked a few questions about who they were and what their interests were. Chapter members then watched these as pre-recorded videos in their RGL groups. There was "live" interaction via Zoom for first invite, second invite, and preference. Women were sent into breakout rooms with one PNM and one Sigma Kappa to chat one on one. Many traditions such as letters to your best friend, the senior speech, a philanthropy round, and the sisterhood video still occurred virtually. Additionally, many members were able to share their experience in Sigma Kappa, their journey, and why they love Sigma Kappa with potential new members each round. In the end, we welcomed 40 new members who were all very excited to join our sisterhood. Loyally, Katie Novak '17 Vice President of Membership Recruitment in the Year of a Pandemic
