GAMMA PHI BETA | PAGE 4 Cassie McHugh '18, Annandale, NJ Environmental Sustainability Describe Psi in three words. Friendship, kindness, and support. Why is Gamma Phi important to you? While I have only seen all my sisters over Zoom due to the pandemic, I feel even more connected to them now than ever before. It is even more important now to stay in touch with all your sisters (which I can truthfully say the girls at Gamma Phi Beta do) because you never know what someone could be going through. Their con nuing love and support throughout all of this makes life and going to school during a pandemic so much be er! What has changed within you, or within your life, because of your membership in Gamma Phi? Being from New Jersey I didn't know anyone when I came to OU. Being a Gamma Phi has taught me to keep an open mind and stay posi ve even when I'm having a tough me. The chapter has given me a home when I couldn't go back to New Jersey for the holidays to visit family, which has made it much easier to be over a thousand miles away from home. Abigail Osborn '18, Miami, OK Pre-Nursing Why is Gamma Phi important to you? Because it is an organiza on of women empowering women. For genera ons to come, this is a sisterhood whose mission is to help guide young women to become strong, confident, kind women of character. This has become even more true given the current chaos plaguing our world. Gamma Phi has been a place of comfort and normalcy for me, it has given me support through these unimaginable mes, and even though things look different now, I know that my sisters are there for me, even virtually. Why should alumnae support Psi today? This organiza on inspires the highest type of womanhood and will always do so; however, with the support of our alumnae, Gamma Phi can con nue to grow and reach more young women for years to come. What has changed within you, or within your life, because of your membership in Gamma Phi? I have found within myself a new sense of confidence, leadership ability, social skills, and a home where I can be my true authen c self. Having sisters who love and support me through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows is something I am eternally grateful for. "While virtual recruitment was not what any of us wanted, I was still able to get to know about Gamma Phi's philanthropy. During a Zoom breakout group, I was able to hear about their many different fundraisers for Girls on the Run. I love that these girls are mentors for younger girls because my goal in life is to be that mentor for others and have a positive impact on people's lives. I also felt drawn to their focus on Building Strong Girls." –Corinne Givens '20, Sapulpa, OK , Pre-Nursing
