THE PSI TRADITION
I
n 1918, our founding members pe oned Gamma Phi
Beta Sorority to charter their chapter at the University
of Oklahoma. These young women believed in the power
of true and constant sisterhood so sincerely they chose
to do this amid the Spanish Flu pandemic. Despite the
challenges, our founders knew that other young women at
OU needed a sisterhood that would welcome them with
open arms while teaching them the tenants of love, labor,
learning, and loyalty.
Since then, the Psi Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta has
welcomed over 3,500 young women into our sisterhood
and our home at 1105 College Avenue. It is because of the
tenacity and bravery of our founding sisters that we are
s ll welcoming hundreds of young women into Gamma
Phi Beta each year. Today's Psi women con nue the rituals
of our founders while preparing for a life of personal and
professional growth.
Now it is our turn to pay it forward—to con nue the legacy
built by our founders and strengthened by each and every
Psi sister who graced our halls. While we know there
is much uncertainty in our world, we are confident our
sisterhood will weather this storm, just as it did over 100
years ago. Join us as we look to The Next Century of Psi.

"Being in a sorority gives you a
place to belong, people to lean on,
