Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa at the University of Florida • Fall 2020 Beta Tau ConnSKtion A Look Back, A Look Forward Beta Tau Adapts to the New Normal L ooking back at our last fall newsletter, we had written that it was a "time of transition" at Beta Tau, with the addition of three new members of the board. We had no idea what kind of transition we would be facing one year later. Adjusting to life amidst a global pandemic has been difficult. The Corporation Board worked tirelessly last spring and all summer toward safely reopening the house this fall semester. We cannot begin to track the hours spent on Zoom calls discussing changes to meal service, heightened sanitation protocols, contingency plans, and what a primarily virtual recruitment would look like. We are thankful that this virtual recruitment was a success, changes to our meal service have been well-implemented, and, most of all, that our sisters feel safe in their home with the precautions we are taking. Despite the numerous challenges we have faced in the last six months, Beta Tau continues to operate in a fiscally sound manner. We have maintained our reserve savings account and continue to cherish and improve this beautiful house that we call home. We have welcomed a new board member, Jeanneen Coleman Watson '86, who has assumed the role of Treasurer. We are thankful to have such a dedicated sister managing our finances. We still welcome all alumnae involvement and are actively seeking to expand our board. Please reach out to us via email for more information about involvement. Please keep an eye on our social media and email blasts for details for our Annual Meeting in the spring. FOCUS FOR 2021 Now that we have navigated the waters of virtual recruitment, re-opened the house amidst a global pandemic, and are experiencing student life quite unlike anything seen before, we cannot help but look forward to 2021. If the trials and tribulations of 2020 have shown us anything, it's that our chapter is made up of strong, dedicated women who are able to face whatever challenge is thrown our way. Our alumnae board members continue to stand in awe of the maturity and grace displayed by our collegiate leadership on a daily basis. JOIN YOUR SISTERS We are always looking for volunteers to join our alumnae board. It is a great chance to give back to all Sigma Kappa gave us and help keep the Beta Tau legacy strong. The more members, the more impact we leave on our chapter. If you are interested, please contact me. Remember to check in with one another as we all adjust to this ever-changing world. Our sisterhood lasts a lifetime and maintaining our bond is more important than ever!
