They're at that point now where they are so dialed in and so ready to play that they're on auto-pilot." The Spartans, who are coming off a thrilling comeback victory over the No. 3 Shasta Wolves in a semifinal game on Tuesday, have split their two meetings with Paradise, no longer a league foe, this year. "Paradise is a lot like us," Howell said. "They pitch well, they play good defense and they have very timely hitting. You're talking about two really good teams." Red Bluff assistant coach Aubrie Thomas, who Howell said has been instrumental in aiding the team this far, said, "I think (the Spartans) are motivated, inspired. I think that game Tuesday ignited a little fire. They got a little taste in their mouth, and they want it." For live coverage of the game, follow @jtlarson on Twitter. Playing as the road team one last time, Spartans coach Ryland Sanders said, doesn't bother the Spartans one bit. Red Bluff, in its four meetings against Shasta, is just 1-3 in those games. It's sole win coming at the front end of a doubleheader at home, where the Spartans came back from a seven-run deficit to beat the Wolves 14-13. Sanders, in his first year heading the varsity squad, admits the team has seen its ups and downs but has been riding high this postseason with the help of clutch hitting and solid pitching. "We want to play well one more time this season," Sanders said of the loose but confident Spartans, adding, "We're looking to have our best game of the year be our last game of the year."
