(:22) ›› X-Men Origins: Wolverine By Jay Bobbin Q : When will "Last Man Standing" be back? — Jane Peterson, via e-mail A : At the time of this writing, Fox wasn't being more specific than saying January ... and fans of the Tim Allen sitcom should make it a point to get their share of new epi - sodes then, since it will be the final round for the show. The Fox run can be considered a bonus by those fans, since that network's pickup of the series came as a surprise after its cancellation by ABC. Though the continuation performed very strongly for Fox, Allen recently said in a press-release statement, "We had all considered to end the show after last season, but together with Fox, we decided to add a year so we could produce a full season to create the gentle and fun goodbye." Indeed, the timing of the ABC notice was such that the se- ries didn't get to do a planned ending there. However, expect "Last Man Standing" reruns to continue in syndication, where the comedy has fared very well. Q : Will reruns of "The West Wing" be shown anytime soon? — Cathy Leach, Grand Junction, Colo. A : In a special run-up to the presidential election, TNT had mini-marathons of the acclaimed Aaron Sorkin-cre- ated drama series on Friday mornings in October. One of the episodes shown was the Sorkin-written "Hartsfield's Landing," which also was the basis for last month's HBO Max special that reunited most of the cast (and which was promoted frequently during the TNT run of the original show). Though Netflix has had streaming rights to "The West Wing" in recent years, it's among the shows that have been acquired from Warner Bros. Television for the HBO Max streaming service. It hadn't shown up there yet as of this writing, but one only can think that particularly given the recent special, that should happen sooner than later now. Q : I've seen teasers that a regular cast member is leaving "NCIS." Who is it? — John McCormick, Buf- falo, N.Y. A : The co-star who's known to be departing is Maria Bello, who has played Spe- cial Agent Jacqueline "Jack" Sloane for the past three years. That might not happen in the CBS' show's 18th-sea- son premiere scheduled for Nov. 17, since no reference is made to it in the synopsis issued for that episode.
