2 BETA MU LINK Making the Most of an Unprecedented Fall Semester Beta Mu Brings in Strong New Member Class, Hosts Inaugural Buzz-A-Beta Philanthropy Event D espite having to deal with a new campus environment due to COVID-19, Beta Mu had a great start to the fall semester. We kicked off the semester moving back into the house under our new COVID-19 protocols. This semester has been a big adjustment for all brothers living in the house. Although we haven't been able to host any Chapter events, we've still focused on academics and brotherhood. Brothers in the 2019 new member class are living in the house for the first time and have created stronger bonds with the upperclassmen. We are also excited to welcome 32 new members, thanks to the leadership of Recruitment Chairman Carter Cates '22 and his team. The new members went through a virtual recruitment and are now going through new member education with Vice President of Education Tom Counsell '22. The new member education process is being held on campus this year as opposed to the Beta Mu house. Philanthropy Chairmen Ryan Plummer '22 and Bryce Randolph '22 have made great efforts to find philanthropy events that keep brothers safe and healthy. We were thrilled to virtually host our inaugural Buzz-A-Beta philanthropy event to benefit the Tyler Trent Foundation on October 25. We surpassed our initial fundraising goal! For a recap of the event, follow our @betapurdue Instagram account. Beta Mu is looking forward to executive team elections that will take place in November before Purdue's in-person classes end. While we haven't operated as normal due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, we are all very thankful to be living together in the Chapter House. Yours in _kai_, Ethan Pio '22 Chapter President (973) 722-1862 epio@purdue.edu Beta Mu hosted its inaugural Buzz-A-Beta philanthropy event on October 25 to raise funds for the Tyler Trent cancer research endowment at the Purdue Center for Cancer Research.
