The VFW Auxiliary 769 will again sponsor hon- oring our Veterans at Christmas time through Wreaths Across America. The event will be on December 19. We are looking for donations for the fresh, live Wreaths to place on the graves of all Veterans in our local Cemetery. We will also be honoring all Veterans still with us in our community. We are looking to our community to make this happen. The live, fresh Wreaths cost $15.00 each. We are having a drive by fund raiser in the VFW 769 parking lot on October 31 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This will also be an op- portunity to drop off non-perishable food items for our local Food Bank. You can designate a specifi c grave on which to place the Wreath when you make a donation if you wish to. The Wreaths are prepared and shipped from the Wreaths Across America Tree farm in Maine. A lot of semis and drivers are volunteered to de- liver these Wreaths across the USA so they can be ready for the Wreaths Across America Day. We are asking for enough wreaths to place on each and every Veteran's grave plus at least 1 to place at Cecilia's Rainbow Gardens to remember those Veterans memorials there. The Wreaths will be removed, and a fl ag placed on these graves at a later day. The Wreaths will then be given to Veterans or spouses living in our community to remind them they have not been forgotten. The Executive Director of Wreaths Across America, Karen Worchester said "Remember we are America strong and in these troubled times it is important to look to those who have served and sacrifi ced for our freedom and emulate their character and courage. Having been given the freedom to agree, disagree and compromise we must come together to build a path to the future for the next generation, instilling in them the re- sponsibility to care for that freedom. Together we can and will face these diffi cult times ahead with renewed commitment to remain as always, America Strong!" Will you donate $15.00 or more to this worth- while community endeavor? Would you be will- ing to assist in placing the Wreaths on the graves on December 18? Contact Verla Fish, 928-916- 9643 for more information.
