Lee, Yolo county superintendent of schools, was honored by a number of state clubwomen in appreciation of her being the founder of Mother's Day. She is a cousin of T. J. Sharp and W. S. Staddard of Red Bluff and William Lee of Paskenta. Miss Leee for more than a quarter of a century one of the leading educators of Yolo county, received many congratulatory messages from mothers and federated women in appreciation of her thought in suggesting the setting aside of a day to mothers of the state and nation. The first Mother's Day was held by the Woodland parlor of the Native Daughters, when Miss Lee was president. From there the grand parlor of the order made the day a state affair.
