20 YEARS OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Last month, our CEO, John Meroski celebrated his 20-year anniversary
at the Faye eville Area Conven on & Visitors Bureau (FACVB.) In honor
of this milestone, we pulled together a list of 20 things our team accom-
plished during John's tenure.
1. Led the effort to raise community's per diem rate from $59 to $109,
proving to be a large economy driver.
2. Domes c tourism generated an economic impact of more than $8
billion for Cumberland County since 2000.
3. Annual tourism revenue increased by 138% since 2000.
4. Annual tax savings per resident doubled since 2000.
5. Spearheaded the tourism posi oning as "America's Hometown."
6. Faye eville named "America's most Pro-Military City" by Time.
7. Faye eville named "One of the Most Patrio c Communi es in
America by Newsmax.
8. Launched Army's Army, dedicated to military support.
9. Partnered with then Mayor Tony Chavonne to launch the annual He-
roes Homecoming ini a ve, now in its 11th year.
10. Secured a Readers Choice Award for "Best Place to Get Local Informa-
on," presented by the Faye eville Observer.
11. The FACVB was accredited by the Des na on Marke ng Associa on
Program (DMAP) from Des na ons Interna onal.
12. Obtained the Shining Example Award from Southeast Tourism Society.
13. Earned 19 Des na on Marke ng Achievement Awards.
14. Received the Task Force Bragg III Award.
15. Received the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment Associa on Presi-
dent's Award.
16. Secured an HSMAI Adrian Award, which honors crea vity and best
prac ces in tourism-related marke ng.
17. John received the Good Neighbor Award from Fort Bragg.
18. John was the first Fort Bragg area civilian selected to a end the U.S.
Army War College Na onal Security Seminar.
19. Secured "Des na on Champion of Branding" recogni on for John,
from Des na ons Interna onal.
20. Over the past 20 years, John has ensured gainful employment of
more than 70 tourism professionals at the FACVB and managed part-
nerships with mul ple vendors and organiza ons countrywide.
