reunion to meet the young men in the chapter. All 13 of us went back that weekend and just had a great time." Although two Beta Funders have since passed on since then, Ted knows that they would be proud of the chapter that Alpha Pi is today. At one point, Ted had the mortgage on the chapter house and the active chapter consisted of only 15 to 20 members. Alpha Pi was comprised of about 30 brothers for most of the 1990s and early 2000s, but is now stronger than ever with 140 brothers, thanks to support from the Beta Fund members and leadership from the active chapter and recent alumni. "I just feel so good about it. The relationships I made at Beta really shaped who I am to a great degree," Ted said. "My hope has always been that what I experienced would be transmitted through future generations of young men at Alpha Pi. I think now more than ever, the potential of that is coming to fruition and continuing for the first time in the last few years because of the quality of the young men we have there." Beta and Badger basketball served as building blocks for Ted's successful career as the CEO and chairman of Fiduciary Management. Ted is thankful that Badger basketball legend Ken Siebel suggested he meet Frank Graner, who was the chairman of the business finance department at UW-Madison and went on to be his advisor for three years. In 1980, Ted launched Fiduciary Management, which now manages $22 billion in assets, thanks to Frank's guidance. Frank also introduced Ted to real estate icon Jim Grasskamp. Jim jumpstarted Ted's decision to start Fiduciary Real Estate Development in 1984. Fiduciary Real Estate Development owns and manages over 8500 multi-family residential units in Wisconsin and owns about $1.7 billion of real estate. Ted technically retired two years ago but still has substantial ownership in both companies. Along with attributing many of his accolades to Alpha Pi, he's enjoyed seeing the positive impact Beta has had on his brothers as they've built their own successful careers. As the young men of Alpha Pi help Beta rise in the ranks of UW-Madison fraternities, Ted asks his brothers to do their part in helping them. "If you had the experience that I had, I would hope you contemplate giving to the campaign. Think about your experience at Beta Theta Pi, the friendships you've made, and the times you've had," Ted said. "I hope you will take the next step. The Beta experience can shape you for years to come and the friendships are lifelong." You can connect with Ted at tkellner@tmpartners.net (please copy his assistant at mrishel@tmpartners.net).
