THE DRAGON'S WAGON G A M M A P S I C H A P T E R O F B E T A T H E T A P I Fall 2020 T hese four locations represent our Beta Theta Pi 70-year legacy at Michigan State. This legacy is wrapped in many good memories and brotherhood. Now we can add a fifth location on 220 and 230 Cedar Street. If the last 70 years are any indicator, I am confident there will be an equal amount of Cedar Street good memories and lasting brotherhood. This continuing legacy is made possible with some flexibility. When our landlord entered a development deal last fall, the 207 Bogue Street house was no longer available. The good news is actives and alumni reacted quickly and secured two well- located apartment buildings now completely dedicated to MSU Beta. We filled these with 40 MSU Betas—an enthusiastic response! This is a different setup but more in line with Greek housing trends and also more COVID responsible. The Beta Tau Alumni Corporation has committed to setting up a high-quality chapter house and will assist in equipping the common area. However this will come from our BTAC General Fund. Will you help us maintain the our high-quality chapter with equally high-quality common areas? Donate online at https://tinyurl.com/ BetaMSUGive or mail a check to BTAC, P.O. Box 1894, Clarkston, MI 48347. We greatly appreciate your support. So: 247 Delta St., 255 Bogue St., 1148 East Grand River, 207 Bogue St. and now 220/230 Cedar St. Yours in -kai-, Keith Loch '86 Beta Tau Alumni Corporation btac860@gmail.com 247 Delta St., 255 Bogue St., 1148 East Grand River and 207 Bogue St. To support the Dragon's Wagon and the MSU Beta new common area project please make your donation today at https://tinyurl.com/BetaMSUGive GIVE BACK! BETA IS FAMILY Tony '86 and Alex DeFlorio '20 Discuss Sharing the Gamma Psi Brotherhood A s a transfer student, Anthony DeFlorio '86 was looking for a group with similar values and with whom he felt comfortable. He found that and much more in the Gamma Psi Chapter. "I came from a pretty sheltered life, and without my Beta Theta Pi brothers showing me an expanded world, I may not have grown into the person I became." Tony and his brothers came from a wide range of backgrounds, but above all they shared respect for one another, opening his mind to a bigger world with possibilities he never imagined. When Tony's two oldest sons reached college age, he encouraged both to consider fraternities to have a similar network on campus. Both chose Beta Theta Pi as well: Victor at Central Michigan University, and Alex '20 at MSU. Alex found himself drawn to Gamma Psi for similar reasons as his father. "Beta men carry themselves in a certain way that made me realize what it's like to be a young man striving for growth and excellence," he explained. "It's so cool to be a part of something this special with my father and brother." A recent MSU graduate, Alex served as vice president of recruitment with the active chapter, through which he learned about leadership and helping an organization grow through dedication and passion. His favorite memories with the brotherhood tend to be the simple ones: hanging out, playing basketball, and "knowing that I have brothers who have got my back day in and day out."
