D espite these uncertain times, the brothers of Tau Chapter are excited for the Fall 2020 semester. Although the Spring semester was shortened, the Chapter was still able to excel in all aspects. This Fall, we hope to make the best of the current situation and grow as a brotherhood. We will do all we can to succeed while remaining cognizant of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a whole, the 2019-20 academic year was very successful for Tau Chapter. We courted Alpha Omicron Pi as our Homecoming pair, maintained our high GPA, and successfully recruited and initiated 66 new brothers over the course of the year. At this summer's virtual 164th Anniversary Convention, Tau Chapter was recognized with three awards: the Phil S. Randall Success in Recruitment Award, the Sidney Ann Gilpin Lewis Memorial Trophy, and the Chapter Achievement Award. These are awarded to chapters that initiate more than 25 men in an academic year, that exemplify the "Helping Hand" motto, and that show distinction in chapter organization and operations, respectively. We are proud of these accomplishments and will strive for another Alter Award. Tau Chapter furthered our trend of increased involvement once again this semester, with Robert Schulte '17 being elected Florida Blue Key vice president. Congratulations to Matt Roof '16 and Tyson Dunn '17 for being inducted into FBK. Thomas Wildermuth '19 will be installed as Senate Judiciary Committee vice chairman. Michael Sommer '18 and Kyle Erickson '18 are new FLA mentors. Finally, Max Pachter '18 is the Interfraternity Council vice president of administrative affairs. In addition to our on-campus endeavors, brothers are succeeding off campus as well. Luke Vescovi '16 recently opened Luke's New York Bagels in Gainesville and is selling out daily. Isaac Hetzroni '16 owns Imprint Genius, which has come a long way from its beginnings in the Theta Chi mechanical closet, as they are having their best sales year to date and are now the fastest growing promo item company in the country. Thank you to all our alumni who have made this brotherhood what it is today. Your support makes it possible for our brothers to remain an integral part of campus and we would not be where we are today without the foundation you've laid. We will continue to follow the example you've set and make you proud. Lastly, I want to highlight the amazing recovery of our brother Mitch Capps '16. Since his accident at the beginning of this year, Mitch has already regained the bulk of his memory, energy, and mobility. The brotherhood held a special event, Mitchfest, where we were truly able to see the amazing impact Mitch has on our brotherhood and campus as a whole. He has shown all of us what true strength and perseverance looks like. We are all extremely proud of the progress he has made.
