BY JAY BOBBIN For any fan of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa, AMC is the place to be Monday, Sept. 7. Virtually the entire franchise – unless you count the more recent "Creed" spinoff movies – will be covered by a marathon that logically begins with 1976's original "Rocky," of which Stallone held out to be the star as well as the writer. His bold move clearly paid off, making him a top box- office draw also servicing such later films as the Rambo adventures and "Cliffhanger." Just about anyone who's ever seen a movie knows the saga of Rocky, the washed-up boxer who gets a million- to-one shot against hugely self-confident heavyweight champ Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Thanks to trainer Mickey (Burgess Meredith) and girlfriend Adrian (Talia Shire), our hero gets the sustenance to run a certain set of steps in Philadelphia and prove himself quite a contender. And it never gets old to see the outcome. 'Rocky' goes the distance in AMC marathon Sylvester Stallone "Woke" Lamorne Morris ("New Girl," "Valley of the Boom") stars in this comedy series about an African American cartoonist who is on the verge of commercial success when an unexpected incident changes everything. He must now balance the new voices and ideas that challenge him without tearing down everything he's built. (ORIGINAL) "Movie: Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons" Michael Chiklis ("The Commish," "The Shield") provides the voice of the title character in this 2020 animated actioner about an assassin who tries to save his family from the wrath of the terror group H.I.V.E. and the murderous Jackal. Sasha Alexander, Griffin Puatu and Chris Jai Alex are also in the voice cast. "Julie and the Phantoms" A high schooler (Madison Reyes) who lost her passion for music when her mother died finds her spirit begin to reawaken when the ghosts of three musicians from the 1990s appear in her mom's old music studio. As she begins singing and writing songs again, the three deceased guys convince her to form a band with them. (ORIGINAL) "Selena + Chef " (Available now, HBO Max) Singer/actress Selena Gomez tries her hand at improving her culinary skills while in quarantine, preparing dishes from various cuisines with the virtual help of chefs including Antonia Lofaso, Ludo Lefebvre and Roy Choi.
