A s a third-generation Cowboy, Don Greiner '86 has bled orange and black since he was born. "Going to Oklahoma State was never in doubt for me," Don said. "I had been going to ballgames from the time I could walk." Going through recruitment, he chose to pledge Delta Tau Delta because several active brothers were friends he admired from high school. As a member of Delta Chi Chapter, Don made lifelong friends with his brothers through chapter events, studying together, and just hanging out. "Impromptu hangout sessions with guys around the house were what formed my lasting Delt friendships," Don said. "The alternative lyrics to popular songs that Fuller, Savage, and Chaz used to dream up still float through my head." Don and his wife also remain close with LeAnn Chastain, the widow of one of his Delt little brothers, Jim Chastain '86, who passed away 10 years ago. He also grew his skills as a leader through serving as pledge trainer and president. "I made some mistakes as a leader in the chapter that I still look back on today as formative," Don said. Don is still passionate about his support for the Delt brotherhood, and he has shown that through his contribution to Delta Chi's Pledge Delt Again capital campaign. "When I lived in the house we all benefited from the good work and financial support of previous generations of Delts," Don said. "This helped create many lifelong friendships for me and I felt it was time to do the same for tomorrows Delts." He is thankful for the alumni leadership who pulled this project together and encourages his brothers to consider getting involved to ensure the Delta Chi brotherhood will be sustained for years to come. "We all have financial challenges and our priority charities," Don said. "I get that. This is a bit of an emotional decision. Are there other good Greek houses? Sure, but I was a Delt, am a Delt, and am proud to be a Delt. I want our Shelter to reflect that pride." As an alumnus, Don enjoys seeing his brothers at Cowboys games and several of his pledge brothers held a class reunion in Colorado a few years ago. He looks forward to having another one in the future. After graduating from OSU, Don became a banker. Later, he attended graduate school and then began working in consumer products marketing for Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. Today Don runs his own company in Oklahoma City. His CFO and business partner, Mike Dimond '84, lived in the Delt house with him. "Mike has had my back now for almost 25 years," Don said. Many things in Don's life would not be the same today had he not joined Delta Tau Delta in college. In fact, he met his wife through a fraternity event. "I almost skipped the fall party during my senior year," Don said, "but boy am I glad I didn't because the girl I took has now been my bride for 32 years." Today, Don lives in Edmond, Oklahoma, and you can reach him at Don.Greiner@ohbf.org. DELT PRIDE Don Greiner '86 Proudly Gives Back to the Brotherhood DELTA TAU DELTA Oklahoma State University P.O.
