"We respect these teams and the coaches
in the conference. The new teams are
well-coached. I believe we will have
a competitive league. There are some
strong athletes in the league."
Shiloh Christian, 14-1 a year ago,
will have two of the strongest in
senior running back Cam Wiedemann
(5-foot-11, 180 pounds) and junior
Kaden Henley (6-2, 225). Wiedemann
emerged last season as the featured
back and delivered 1,298 yards and 23
touchdowns. He was a workhorse in
the playoffs in leading the Saints to the
title game, rushing for 714 yards and 11
touchdowns in the postseason.
"He was definitely a young man who
stood out and surprised a lot of people
last year," Conaway said. "Knowing that
he's back and he's bigger, he's faster,
he's stronger, more confident. We feel
like he is going to be a weapon for us as
a senior."
Kain Johnson of Elkins emerged last season as
a dual-threat quarterback for the Elks in his first
season as the starter. Johnson passed for 2,000
yards and ran for 500 to lead Elkins in 2019.
