He also had two blocked punts and 25 tackles. … Sanchez returns for this third season on the offensive line. … Hardemon will be back at the other defensive end spot after 21 tackles last year. … Bradic was the all-NWADG Defensive Newcomer of the year after he recorded 150 tackles and three sacks. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "There is a lot of uncertainty. Everybody understands there's a lot of things that are out of our control, and we talk to our kids all the time about handling adversity. It seems like every day there is something going on that is a sort of adversity for us. Everybody feels behind a little bit with no spring ball, no summer 7-on-7 and team camps and stuff like that, but it is what it is. We talk to our kids about making the best of the situation, and we have a season that is fixing to start." — Bryan Pratt, Bentonville West coach SCHEDULE Aug. 29 ..... at Broken Arrow, Okla. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "There's a ton of areas we can get better at, but I like the pace and tempo at which we're practicing. We start off at Conway and Conway's a very good team. You look at what they've done in the past and they were in the semifinals last year. THE SKINNY The Bulldogs, like most teams, have questions at multiple positions heading into the season after no team football work of any kind in pads since last November because of covid-19. … Landon Phipps will take over a quarterback after starting at receiver last season. Phipps is one of the best athletes on the team with 4.5 speed in the 40. … Ladarius Wonsley burst onto the scene last season and caught 73 passes for 986 yards and 10 touchdowns. Wonsley did most of his damage early in the season, then faced double-coverage the rest of the way. … Senior RB Gilberto Dominguez is a workhorse and had 350 yards rushing last season. … The Bulldogs are solid on the OL with Jesus Almaraz and Alexander Garcia anchoring the unit. Almaraz was an all-conference selection. … Defensively, LB Travon Westbrook is a load for teams to keep out of the backfield. Westbrook recorded a team-high 104 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss last season. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "Everybody is uncertain right now. But we are excited about this group. Our attendance has been this summer. It seems to be a committed group. Going into last year, we pretty much replaced everybody, especially offensive skill players, so we're returning a lot more experience this year. That is the good news. So we're excited about this group." — Zak Clark, Springdale High coach SPRINGDALE HAR-BER WILDCATS 2019 RECORD 8-4, 5-2 7A-West COACH Chris Wood RETURNING STARTERS 6 offense, 2 defense KEY PLAYERS TE Errington McRae (Sr., 6-3, 235), OL Peyton Henderson (Sr., 6-1, 275), LB Billy Tillery (Sr., 5-11, 190), DE Michael Avila (Sr., 6-2, 250), WR Noah Livingston (Sr., 6-4, 200), DB Bralen Williams (Sr., 5-10, 160), WR/DB Liem Taylor (Sr., 5-6, 145), DB Jamarcus Alvis (Sr., 5-8, 160), RB Hudson Brewer (So., 6-1, 180). THE SKINNY The Wildcats must replace several top skill position players, but the offensive line returns almost virtually intact from last season. … Senior TE Errington McRae, who has committed to Memphis and will be an early enrolee, caught 41 passes for 801 yards (19.5 average per catch) and 6 touchdowns last season. … Wood has not named a starting quarterback yet. Juniors Drue McClendon and Braxton Scott are in a competition to take over that position, said Wood. … The offensive line is experienced with all-state guard Peyton Henderson anchoring the unit. Twins Carson and Janson Sanders also return along with stellar junior center Jack Struebing, who has started since he was a freshman. Struebing missed seven games last season with a broken foot, but is back to 100 percent. … Wood will lean on his defense early with defensive ends Miguel Avila and Michael Gonzalez leading the charge. … Linebacker Billy Tillery had 58 tackles last year and is back for his third season as a starter. … The Wildcats are talented on the back end with senior Liem Taylor, who had 5 interceptions last season. Bralen Williams, the younger brother of former Springdale High receiver Kyler Williams, is one of the best safeties in the 7A-West, Wood said. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "We return a ton of guys on defense with experience and there is a possibility we will start 11 seniors on defense that have come through the system. They are very athletic, strong and had a really good summer of training. Offensively, we are replacing some skill guys at the quarterback and receiver, but what we return and what I think gives us an advantage this year is that we return our offensive line. Most of them have been playing two and three years. So these guys are very seasoned vets." — Chris Wood, Springdale Har-Ber coach SCHEDULE Aug. 28 ..... at Van Buren Oct. 9 .................
