Sigma Chi 3 T he University of Cincinnati closed out its 200th anniversary at the end of last year with a spectacular Homecoming. We were glad to see brothers of all ages and their families as we hosted our largest Homecoming event yet! We are beyond grateful for the support and help we received from our committed alumni. Homecoming would not be as enjoyable without your hard work, generous giving, and fun presence. RECRUITMENT UPDATE Our chapter continues to grow as we welcomed 12 new members in February. Recruitment Chairmen Lou Langen '23 and Matias Morita '24 did a phenomenal job of organizing events, welcoming alumni, and broadcasting the high ideals Zeta Psi brothers live by. We look forward to the impact these new brothers will bring to our chapter after being initiated. FOCUSED ON THE FUTURE As UC is the founder of the cooperative education program (co-op), it's fitting that many Sigma Chi brothers have been taking advantage with impressive co-op roles. In the past year, brothers have worked for many successful companies, including Disney, Comedy Central, and Universal Studios, along with plenty of brothers staying local at some of the Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Cincinnati. It's great to have outstanding alumni inspire us to strive for more in our professional careers while in college. AN UNEXPECTED AUTHOR Zeta Psi is also proud of and would like to recognize former Pro Consul Connor Martin '21, who was featured in the spring 2020 issue of The Magazine of Sigma Chi for his self-published book, Every Day Lessons from Everyday People. Connor was inspired during his recruitment process to start collecting insightful quotes from personal conversations and eventually gathered more than 1,000 after three years in school. He then decided to compile the best 365 for a coffee-table style book. Feel free to check it out on major retailers like Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble, and more! CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Our brothers have shown great initiative within our community as our neighborhood grows. We have continued to foster our relationships with those around us and those that guide our community. From University guest speakers to community clean-ups, our chapter has expressed its immense interest in further strengthening our community relations. BROTHERHOOD ACHIEVEMENTS ABOUND Our chapter finished the fall 2019 semester with a 3.3 overall GPA, ranking us sixth of 25 fraternities on campus. We have raised more than $20,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Our chapter is staying involved with many brothers holding leadership positions on campus and in the surrounding community with 80% of brothers involved in on-campus organizations and nearly 30% of them holding leadership positions. Although our everyday lives have been thrown off course because of the COVID- 19 pandemic, we look forward to achieving even more as a brotherhood this fall and are grateful for what we accomplished this spring. Fraternally, Matthew Peterson '22 Consul peter2ma@mail.uc.edu Zeta Psi Celebrates Strong Brotherhood at UC Academic Excellence and Community Involvement on the Forefront A big thank-you to Officer Vestring and Officer Sparks from UCPD for coming to speak to our brothers on safety, community, and campus relations. We appreciate everything you do for our campus and community. A great community clean-up by our group of brothers on a beautiful Sunday morning. Happy to help pick up around the neighborhood we call home!
