DELTA CHI NEWS PAGE 2 COMMITTED TO HIS COMMUNITY (Continued from page 3) PRESERVING A SUCCESSFUL BROTHERHOOD Brian Callahan '94 Encourages Brothers to Support the Campaign W hen asked why he decided to join the Pledge Delt Again campaign, Brian Callahan '94 gave three reasons. "The first was to give back to something that has given so much to me," Brian explained. "The second was remembering how much alumni support helped the other houses at OSU improve their chapters. Third, I visited the Shelter with my youngest son and he asked me if I really lived in that place. It made me realize that facilities make a difference, especially to this generation." Of course, the men in the Shelter influenced Brian's decision too. Growing up in Stillwater with his parents working at OSU, he spent a lot of time on campus and met lots of fraternity brothers in the different houses. "The Delt brothers and alumni were great, successful, and well-rounded." Brian bonded with his soon-to-be brothers in recruitment, and during an event at Lake Carl Blackwell he decided Delta Tau Delta was the best fit for him—a decision he would never regret. "I met my wife, my future boss, and my best friends to this day through Delt. I also gained experience and a sense of responsibility." HOW DELT PAID OFF That future boss was Joe Eastin '92, CEO of ISN Software in Dallas, Texas. Joe hired Brian at ISN, where he has worked for more than 15 years and is now president and COO. Brian is thankful not only for the brother who hired him but for the skills he learned through Delt: discipline, social skills, managing multiple priorities, and working with people with different personalities. Last year, Brian was inducted into the OSU Business School Hall of Fame. Brian served in many roles as a Delta Chi undergraduate, including vice president and treasurer. He was fortunate to be active in many of the chapter's successes, including making the championship game of intramural flag football, placing first in Varsity Revenue and Homecoming, and finishing in the top 3 fraternity GPAs. PAYING DELT BACK Having visited the Shelter and attending recruitment events in recent years, Brian is continually impressed by the progress the chapter has made. That includes not only the actives but the House Corporation, chapter advisors, and other alumni. "I would encourage fellow alumni to consider the impact Delt had on their college years, and to give to the campaign if moved to do so." Brian enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and three children. For several years, he has also taken an annual golf and concert trip with some of his Delt brothers. You can reach him at bcallahan@isn.com. Joe realizes that the Delt brotherhood is something all alumni have helped create, and he hopes that with more alumni support, the campaign will allow Delta Chi to keep attracting "the brightest and best that Oklahoma State has to offer in the student body." Professionally, Joe is the senior vice president at Trust Company of Oklahoma, but he finds personal joy through volunteering outside of work; he's a board member and past president of Sunbeam Family Services and a past president of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. "Serving others first is extremely important and can also be personally rewarding," he added. His family life has also been rewarding, and he's proud that all five of his family members have gone to OSU—his son, Luke Ray '19, even followed in his footsteps and joined ∆T∆. His twin daughters are freshmen at OSU and members of Pi Beta Phi; his wife is a Kappa Delta alumna.
