2 ALPHA TAU OMEGA Academics Academics are extremely important to our undergraduate members. Our scholarship chairman, Adam Walker '18, has helped bring ATW above a few of our rival houses that we love beating in academics. Coming in with a Chapter GPA of 3.048, we are above the all-male campus GPA and the all-fraternity GPA. Adam's work with our members struggling in their courses has included connecting them with someone who has taken the class before and can give guidance on the best way to attack the class. It's been incredibly helpful in our efforts to bring out the best in each brother. Member Development Since my executive board and I have taken office, we've made it our mission to bring in as many guest speakers as possible to talk to the Chapter and give advice and guidance. At ATW, we hang our hat on being the premier leadership fraternity in the nation. We develop our members' leadership abilities by providing multiple leadership positions and responsibility that they're able to cultivate during their time at Mizzou. ese positions better prepare our members to be successful during and aer college. Bringing these speakers in from various fields of study to share their knowledge with our brothers helps us grow in our personal and professional development. If you would like to speak during one of our Zoom sessions or at a Chapter meeting in the fall, please contact me. Philanthropic Endeavors is academic year, we've raised more money than ever before for our philanthropy, the ompson Center, which benefits autism research. Collin Leach '18 coordinated a great philanthropic event during Homecoming weekend last fall. e streets of Greek Town were packed and in our front lawn we had a projector displaying game five of the St. Louis Cardinals playoff series and sold food and drinks. rough concessions donations, we skyrocketed over our goal and made an outstanding donation to the ompson Center. is spring, we had another event planned, our signature event, the second-annual Autism Awareness Walk. We had a petting zoo, bounce house and face painting all lined up and working with the ompson Center. It sounded like the moms and kids of the families our donations are helping were really excited for the event. Unfortunately, with everything being canceled, we were unable to host this momentous event. Our executive board has decided that with everything going on we should offer any help possible. We have decided to go online with our spring philanthropic drive and help out an organization that could really use it right now. GENYouth is working to feed kids who relied on their meals being provided from school. Now with school food programs shut down, they have lost their only access to a meal. We hope to aid in their efforts to help these kids access to nourishment they need to survive these tough times. Fostering a Positive Brotherhood Our membership education program has never been better. With our strong commitment to academics, we help our new members develop positive study habits early on in their college experience to set them up for continued academic success. With our study hall program, our members struggling in their courses are able to receive tutoring from our study hall proctors, as well as be in a learning environment where they can help out the new members and get to know them better. We encourage new members to be around the House as much as possible because that's the only way that they'll be able to grow closer with their brothers. Grateful for Miz B We were recently blessed with our amazing House Director, Beverly Warford, who has been doing wonders for the House and everyone in it. She has been our biggest advocate in improving our daily lives around the House. We have tools and equipment that we store in the garage for projects and events, and before Miz B came along, it was unorganized and difficult to find what we needed. She organized it all, making everything easy to find, along with a signout sheet for the tools to prevent them from disappearing. She's improved our food service by expanding our menu options, as well as improving the frequency that our cleaning service visits the House. Having a military background, Miz B runs a tight ship, but always with a smile and positive attitude. She has truly been an asset to the House and we are so lucky to have her. We encourage you to stop by a visit with Miz B this fall.
