House Director Chris Miller recently shared this
fun anecdote: "When my kids were growing up,
I shared ideas, tips, best practices, conflicts that
came up at work, etc. at the dinner table, and often
asked them what they would do in certain situa-
tions they hadn't experienced yet. My little talks
always ended with, 'So today's life's lesson was...'
and they would fill in the blank with what they
learned. You will likely hear me say
this a lot, hence the history.
Today's life's lesson was, never trust that the per-
son who opened the paint can before you put the
lid back on tight. It was just a quart and I had to
shake it before testing the color on the wall. One
shake and the paint went all over the stairwell,
wall and my boots. Aaaargh!
It never occurred to me the guys wouldn't know
how to at least press down on a paint can lid with
their fist, foot or a hammer!"
