fter the new officers and I were elected in early November 2019, we quickly
got to work, excited and honored to represent our sisters. Little did we know
what a crazy year this would be and the many challenges we would face. Our
first order of business was an officer retreat led by our amazing alumnae advisor,
Whitney Juneau '05. Whitney quickly brought us up to speed on all of the amazing
opportunities we had to represent our chapter, our school, and our alumnae.
It was an amazing weekend in which the new officers and alumnae all bonded over
a shared love of Tri Delta, eager to begin in our appointed duties. Our first challenge
arose very quickly when we learned we had to find a new house director. We were
so fortunate to find Bonnie Hanni. Mom B, a KU alumna, has been an amazing fit in
our house.
The spring semester had an amazing start with the chapter holding our 10K in a Day
fundraiser, which raises money for St. Jude. We raised over $14,000 in just one day!
We also held our annual date party, Cupid's Crush, in early February. The sisters
enjoyed spending time with one another (plus the opportunity to invite a special
someone). Informal recruitment brought us eight amazing new sisters, and we
couldn't be more excited to get to know them better.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit the brakes on the rest of our spring activities,
philanthropy events, and sisterhood events. Although we are saddened and
heartbroken by the pandemic, we are doing our best to move the chapter forward.
Our team of officers is working diligently to ensure that the chapter still reaches
new heights. We have moved all of the scheduled events to the fall and are working
on a plan to ensure that the senior women get the most out of their time as a Tri
Delta collegians and are prepared to take on new adventures that lie ahead.
As a chapter, we want to thank all of the alumnae and parents who have been with
us every step of the way this year. We have accomplished so much and are optimistic
about the future. We encourage any alumna who wants to serve our chapter to reach
out and see in which areas they could be of assistance. We will
continue to steadfastly love one another, and we thank you for
all of your Delta Love and support.
