Real. Strong. Women. This moniker has always described the women of Alpha Beta before it became our national organization's tagline. From our incredible chapter founders, including Myrtle Boyer Zollinger 1918, to my personal mentors and inspiration, Bonnie House Andrews '38, Deb Andrews Poelstra '70, Mary Harrison Ford '57, Maggie Ginzler Robb '67, Sally Watlington '57, Katie Thomas Glick '04 and Angela Costley Harris '86, just to name a few, we have forever been Real. Strong. Women. I recently had the pleasure of spending time with a small but mighty group of Alpha Beta sisters from the 1970s in Ft. Myers, Florida, including two of my chapter presidents, Barbara Schultz Lynch '73 and Lisa Griffin Dum '74. We reflected on the diversity of personalities, career paths and leadership both as undergraduates and professionals. The theme that resonated throughout our weekend was that their leadership skills and successful careers had roots and a foundation from what they learned and experienced as Alpha Betas of Alpha Chi Omega. Our fun, respect, love and friendship picked up right where we left off, whether it had been a short or long time. All of us had a hard time putting into words exactly the importance and impact of Alpha Chi Omega in our lives, but we silently nodded and acknowledged each other that it was true. I choose to believe it is the ideals and values we were taught and the bonds of sisterhood we share. Each team member brings something important to the sisterhood no matter what their contribution is. Our Home Corporation Board is a team. Each individual member, including our three collegiate voices, bring such insight and skill in decision making as we plan projects for both this summer and the future. With the generous contribution of Angela Costley Harris '86, we will put the finishing touches on the executive office. We are ordering new tables and chairs for the library to further enhance the academic needs of our women and recovering sofas and ottomans that will aid recruitment needs. We are accomplishing a list of kitchen equipment updates and an air balance report to tweak our A/C and boiler systems over the years to better serve our home. Looking ahead, we plan on redoing the study spaces on second and third floors and will redo individual rooms as we are able. The two rooms on the third floor, remodeled for the centennial, are the most sought-after study rooms in the house. We use your donations to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation (memo: Alpha Beta Educational Fund) to remodel those rooms. As I look around our House Corporation Board meeting table, I am so proud of our team, but in my mind's eye I see all the wonderful alumnae and collegiate members standing behind us like Sue, Dorthea, Judy, Angela, Ellie and Kathryn- -Real. Strong. Women.—who did the work and laid the foundation for excellence in making our house a safe and inviting home for learning, leadership and "doing life" together as sisters in the bond of Alpha Chi Omega. To quote our National Convention 2020, "We anticipate and adapt to new opportunities to best serve the current generation of members." And even the next legacies, like Vivienne, Mae, Madison and Savannah, our collegiate women are our future and are a better investment than gold or the stock market. We are all a team at Alpha Beta––our collegians, alumnae, advisers, house director, staff and house corporation members. You are a part of our past, present and future. You, sister, are Team Alpha Beta. With a grateful heart and the strength of unity in our bond, together let us seek the heights. This year's bid day theme was Rock 'n' Roll and it sure was one for the ages.
