This column will fill our FYI calen- dar space until the covid-19 crisis is over. '99% INVISIBLE' Host: Roman Mars Available via any podcast app and online at a 99perceinvisible.org. A radio show about the 99% of things that make our up our world. Each episode is an unexpected discov- ery of objects and structure of our surroundings that typically would go unnoticed. A few episodes to get you started: 364 — He's Still Neutral 352 — Uptown Squirrel 340 — The Secret Lives of Color In the current episode, 394, "Roman Mars Describes Things As They Are," the host is podcasting from home about objects he finds in his residence. You'll fall in love with his smooth voice and learn something new. It is rated for all audiences. 'CRIMINAL' Host: Phoebe Judge This true crime podcast is based around, "stories of people who've done wrong, been wronged, or gotten caught somewhere in the middle." One listen, and I was hooked. Each story takes you somewhere unexpected. The most recent release, "527 Lime Street," is about a clear cut case of arson and murder — or was it? Warning, addic- tive!! Suggestions to get started: 135 — 527 Lime Street 133 — Red Hair, Gold Car 128 — Deep Breath "Criminal" is available via any podcast app and online at thisiscriminal.com. 'THIS IS LOVE' Host: Phoebe Judge Trust me, you'll enjoy this podcast as well. From the creators of "Criminal," "This is Love" is a show about, well, love. I recommend the entire last season. These six episodes were recorded in Italy last summer. Humanity at its best. Start with Episode 13 — Ugly Club and don't stop until you finish with Episode 18 — The Memory Artist. "This is Love" is available via any podcast app and online at thisislove podcast.com. 'HEAVYWEIGHT' Host: Jonathan Goldstein Each episode of "Heavyweight" "goes back to the moment everything changed." Johnathan Goldstein, the socially awkward host, tackles a problem from a friend, an acquaintance, or relative and tries to help. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes tear jerk- ing, stories will go straight to your heart. Suggestions to get started: 6 — James 24 — Jimmy and Mark 31 — Marie-Claude "Heavyweight" is available via any podcast podcast app and online at gimletmedia.com 'SNAP JUDGMENT' Host: Glynn Washington This pod will keep the adrenaline pumping. Sound design, originally produced for each story, adds depth and vibrancy missing on other storytelling podcasts. Although not all episodes are kid-friendly, the host will give a warning in the introduction. So many excellent ones to choose from: Zoo Nebraska The Real Black Klansman The Pink Palace "Snap Judgment" is available via any podcast app and online at snapjudge ment.org 'THIS AMERICAN LIFE' Host: Ira Glass To have over 2.2 million listeners per week is no easy task. This podcast is difficult to describe in a few words. Consisting of several stories around a theme, it draws the listener in to the real-life struggles and situations that most of us can relate to. It is broadcast weekly on NPR and may be found on Stitcher, Apple iTunes, NPR.org, or via the This American Life app. Recommen- dations: 199 — House on Loon Lake 654 — The Feather Heist 647 — LaDonna Most but not all are kid-friendly.
