Church news The sky is falling, the sky is falling “The sky is falling, the sky is ship invites the community to attend a concert by a mixed ensemble called HOPE from the California Baptist University in Riverside to be held at 6 p.m. Sunday. falling,” said Chicken Little. That sounds very familiar to the shouts of our nations these past few years; it’s the bubble of hyper- inflat- ed prices, wreckless overspending, and the despise of morality and hon- esty from our highest officials. We could not in all reality hope for any- thing else. As the Bible says,"Sin is a reproach to any people. That reproach means shame or rebuke. Obviously the one that rebukes is God himself, and his rebukes always come with action. The action from God to pun- ish sin upon us has been very light; the only reason for him with-holding his hand, is the intercession of the righteous that cry unto the Lord night and day. As we learned from Abra- ham, for a few righteous, God would spare the city. When the hardship and chaos came upon our country, God remind- ed us that our hope and trust should never be upon the American banking system but upon His. His bank and his economy never lose value nor does it shake because of men's fears. God spoke to us and said that his people would not suffer the loss that the world would suffer; they would weather the storm because he was their instrument. In fact, this year was declared the year of blessings and restoration.Logically it makes no sense, as we look at the unemploy- ment figures, the stock market unease, and the massive planned overspending at the capital it sure makes it challenging to believe for blessings and restoration. But incredibly enough, like the flowers of spring that are springing forth as the sun is warming up, like- wise the reports and testi- monies of people receiving blessings and restoration have started to be told. Debts are forgiven, houses pur- chased, gifts received, etc. My personal story comes and in those days it will be shouted, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, let us go to the house of Jacob!” Fred from giving a vehicle to a ministry, and somebody gave us a better car to replace that one. Two months later somebody gave us a paid trip for 14 days in Israel with everything included, even lunch money. We found out later that a group of five pastors and their wives are part of the group going, Hallelu- jah! Thank you Jesus! I have never been to Israel but I know that God has a special blessing for my wife and me and everyone that is going in this trip. The Bible will literally come alive as we walk those historic and holy places and foresee the land that will be our pilgrimage for now and the next thousand years. Now it is heard, Villasenor GodTalk Maybe you are reading this and saying, “I wish I could go to Israel, but there is no way.” I dare you to dream and believe that it can happen. Maybe you have not heard that God ordained this year as a year of bless- ings and restoration; well now that you've heard it, believe it and wait for a blessing. If your hope and trust is not on the world's banks but in God's bank, believe his promise and wait for a blessing; God guarantees that it will come. When we return from Israel, I hope to write you about our face to face encounter with God. Mean while, blessings and restora- tion to you, Amen. Pastor Fred Villasenor leads Eglesia La Nueva Vida Church in Red Bluff. A former rock musician and tentmaker pastor, he knows what it is to depend on the Lord and he knows what it is to seek an alternative. He recommends depending on the Lord. Vacation Bible School starts Monday “Share your faith with others” (Philemon 1:6) is one of the verses the chil- dren will learn at the Pres- byterian Church’s Vacation Bible School, 9 a.m. to noon, June 21-25 at Red Bluff Presbyterian Church, 838 Jefferson St. The theme of the 2010 VBS is Baobab Blast! Baobab is a gigantic tree, found in the African Savan- nah, that creates its own ecosystem, and is one of the world’s oldest life forms. Through each of the five themes of Baobab Blast, children will see how their faith is a part of who they are and how they act in the world. The children will learn the themes of trust, love, follow and care and share through participating in the day an offering will be col- lected that will go toward the purchase of animals helping people throughout the world learn to be more self-sufficient. Raegen, Noelle, Aiden and Gabriel are looking forward to Vacation Bible School at Red Bluff Presbyterian Church. many activities VBS is offering. The students will be introduced to the daily theme and memory verse during the morning gather- ing. They will learn more during their classes, through singing, art and science pro- jects. The children will be served a snack and have daily games. Throughout the week students will participate in the annual mission project, raising money for Heifer Project International.
