By Blythe Wilt Director of Community Outreach, Siloam Springs When my family moved to Siloam Springs in February 2000, I was only four years old. In nearly twenty years I have seen more growth than I could have ever imagined and I've witnessed that growth up close. I have literally grown up with Siloam Springs. This town has built me into who I am today. I met my husband at Siloam Springs Middle School when we were in 8th grade. Both of our families live in Siloam Springs and have for many years. My husband and I are both graduates of Siloam Springs High School having spent two years at the old location and the last two in the new building. I am very grateful for the outstanding education I received through the Siloam Springs School District. My husband and I are both John Brown University alumni. Many of our best friends are from Siloam Springs as well. It's not often that people want to stay in their hometown after high school, but my husband and doing just that. We have planted our roots in this town and intend to watch our children grow up here because we believe it is the best place anywhere to raise a family. Siloam Springs is an incredibly safe and close community. As a child, I always enjoyed living here, but I never realized just how blessed I was until I was older. The community of Siloam Springs is unique because of its strong foundation of faith and peace which leads to low crime rates, something that many towns today do not have. Growing up in the heart of downtown Siloam Springs, I always appreciated the charm and coziness of this town. And my feelings for Siloam Springs have only grown over the years. Siloam Springs, Arkansas is the epitome of "small town". I have heard my precious community be compared to a Hallmark movie or famous TV shows such as Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls, as well as Dillon from Friday Night Lights. Siloam Springs is one of the most picturesque and charming towns I've ever been to and its annual traditions and events are another one of the qualities that make this town so great. Events like Dogwood Festival, Homegrown Festival, the Christmas Parade, the Homecoming Parade, Friday night football games, the Farmers Market and First Friday Coffee. Several local businesses hold annual banquets and now we have the live concerts at Memorial Park. I love the carnival and circus that come to town every year, the downtown trick or treating and countless other community events that make Siloam Springs special and instill the feeling that you are part of one, big community family. Northwest Arkansas, as a whole, is an exciting and progressive area with Growing up with Siloam Springs Blythe Wilt 26 • Best of Siloam Springs Wednesday, March 25, 2020 Siloam Springs Herald-Leader YOU BELONG HERE NEW LIFE CHURCH Sundays at 9 & 11 Visit us at 1611 Cheri Whitlock Dr or online at www.nlcss.com 479.524.4823 We are blessed and honored by your generosity!
