Keeping Close with Kappa Alpha Χ Ω 3 C hi Omega has created so many leaders over the years and Kappa Alpha has been a shining example of that. We are thrilled to share that Natalie Leonard '18 was named the Woman of the Year at the Fraternal Excellence Awards on February 26. Other Fraternal Excellence Awards nominees from Kappa Alpha were McKenna Dome '17 (Best President), Paige Hieger '18 (Chapter Member of the Year), Natalie Leonard '18 (Chapter Member of the Year), Ginny Young (Best House Director), Emily Johnson (Advisor of the Year), and me (Woman of the Year and Chapter Member of the Year). REAGAN RILEY '20 HIGHLIGHTS KAPPA ALPHA'S BRIGHT FUTURE Kappa Alpha received exciting news that one of our new members, Reagan Riley '20, was selected as the Supreme Governing Council model initiate. Her initiation will be in June at the 2020 Convention. As a Chapter, we are extremely proud of Reagan and all she has accomplished at K-State and Chi Omega in such a short time. "Reagan is an extraordinary young lady that only wants the best for others," Reagan's G-Big Paige Hieger '18 said. "She is extremely selfless and is one of the most caring people out there. She is the true description of 'loveable rather than popular.'" CHI O CAPITALIZES ON CONTINUOUS OPEN BIDDING In addition to an outstanding fall new member class, we welcomed three extraordinary spring new members to Kappa Alpha this spring thanks to continuous open bidding (COB). Please help us send a warm Chi O welcome to Carly Kaster, Torie Thompson, and Lauren Sandow. They will be initiated later this spring. Thank you to Recruitment Chairwoman Cody Ballou '19 for doing a fantastic job with recruiting these women to our sisterhood. WINGS FOR WISHES HAS FLAVOR OF FUN Kappa Alpha held its annual Wings for Wishes spring philanthropy event at the Chapter House on February 23. Community Service Director Kirsten Jackson '20 and Co-Spring Philanthropy Chairwomen Sophia Neal '19 and Megan McCoy '20 facilitated the fun and successful event. Wing for Wishes brought in multiple people from the community who helped us raise more than $3,200 for Make-A-Wish America. We are so happy to benefit an organization that changes the lives of many people. CRUSHIN' ON THE CHI O'S We had our annual Chi O Crush date party at Tubby's Sports Bar on February 21. The theme of this year's date party was Valentine's Day and about 160 of our members attended with their dates. Social Director Brianna Streeter '20 and Date Party Chairman Carly Howard '20 organized the event, which was a fun and safe night for all who attended. Alyson Stewart '17, Abbie Hughes '17, Sadie Kossow '20, and Astrid Altamirano '17 serve wings at Wings for Wishes on February 23. The event featured an assortment of wings from Wingstop and a wing-eating competition. The 2019 new member class and New Member Educator Sydney Schmanke '18 at the initiation banquet on February 2.
